Bullet train track is being built from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. It is not yet known when the train will run. However, for now, the railways have planned to increase the speed of Vande Bharat and convert it into a high-speed train. The train will run on the bullet train route. The maximum speed of Vande Bharat will increase from 180 km per hour to 280 km per hour. The design of the train is being prepared by ICF and BML.

According to a news source, the cost of building each coach of the high-speed train will be 28 crore rupees. The cost of a coach of this train is much less than that of the Shinkenshin train in Japan.

Besides the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor, the Railway Ministry is planning to develop high-speed rail corridors between Delhi-Varanasi, Delhi-Ahmedabad, Nagpur-Mumbai, Mumbai-Hyderabad. Proposals for this have also been submitted to the Railway Board. This time, proposals for Chennai-Mysore and Varanasi-Howrah high-speed rail corridors may be submitted in the financial year 2024-25.

According to sources, BEML will manufacture two 8-car high-speed trains in the next two years. The total cost of the contract is Rs 866.87 crore. The speed of the trains will be 280 kmph. A tender was called by Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory for the manufacture of the two coaches. BMML has been the only one to respond.
