More than 200 Vande Bharat trains will run this time!
The Railways said the timings of these trains will be decided only after the trials are successful. The Ministry of Railways informed the Lok Sabha that 136 Vande Bharat trains are operating on the broad gauge electrification network across the country for short and medium distance travel till December 2, 2024. Which includes the chair car.
Replying to another question, the minister said that since April 2018, the production units of Indian Railways have been manufacturing only LHB coaches. The production of these coaches is constantly increasing. “The first rake of the Vande Bharat sleeper train has been launched for simulation testing,” a senior railway official said. The official said 10 sleeper trains are currently under production as part of the larger plan to introduce 200 trains. But how many of the 200 Vande Bharat sleepers will run in Bengal? Although there is no answer to this, at least there is an indication that Bengal will not be deprived. Vande Bharat sleeper trains will also run from Howrah, Sealdah on several lines including Delhi, Mumbai, South India.
Big surprise of BEML
The first prototype of the Vande Bharat sleeper rake manufactured by BEML was launched from the Integral Coach Factory after testing its quality standards in Chennai for field and simulation trials. “At present, loaded simulation trials of Vande Bharat sleeper train are being conducted to assess its performance at speeds of 130 kmph and 180 kmph under various conditions,” the official said.
